How to appear intelligent in a meeting
Over the years I have learned from many consultants that you don actually need to know anything to help someone. In fact the one that pretend to know the most (experts) end up being annoying and their opinions grating. Great facilitators have the knack of letting the person/people in question wrestle with the problem and solve it themselves. I am not suggesting that there is no cocreation in solving a problem with someone but rather that it is much better to ask questions and nudge things along instead of directing.

The basics of this process is to ask "Why?" five times to get to the root of any failure/issue in order to solve the core problem instead of the symptoms. For instance, imagine the problem you are facing is that you have a dissatisfied client. Why? because the job is only 3/4 complete in their mind. Why? because their expectations were different that what I understood. Why? because I assumed I understood what they meant? Why? because I didn want to spend too long going through requirements. Why? because I wanted to get working and save time.
You get the idea. Try using this in meetings and you may get slapped by the odd person for seeming belligerent however for others you will be impressively brilliant as long as you pace with the people you are working with.
I think we will eventually learn that this process was actually derived from children and not Toyota.
Do colleges care if you have transferred from a 4year college to a community college?
I am a sophomore at 4year college right now and don like the school. I want to fininsh off this coming semester so I can transfer to a community college since it cheaper. I plan on taking the next semester at a cc. And then when I become a junior, I going to another 4year college to graduate. Will the colleges I will be applying next year wonder why I started out as a student at a 4year college but then decided to transfer over to a community colleges?

My Current Book List I just finished an online teaching session on the EduFire business channel called The 10 Thing You Need to Build a Great Company. Here are the basics of the content I walked everyone through in a movie format. Some folks were interested in learning about my recommended reading list so I thought I would put it up here for general consumption. I wanted to race the baja and decided to start training for it. I knew I needed to get very fit to race for a 1000 miles on either a truck or a dirtbike. A strange thing happened in the process. I started hiking in the mountain trails and the more I did it the more I fell in love with getting into the wilderness as many days a week as possible. I then started to run where I used to hike and before long was clocking in 3040 miles running on the trails each week. Never in a month of Sunday's did I ever think that I would fall in love with running but that is exactly what happened. I despise running on the roads and on the flat but I love getting into isolated single tracks that let me explore and get lost physically and mentally. Living in California helps a lot as most of the time the weather is fantastic and it is hard to stay indoors.
